From 1994 to 2024, the Nicola Valley Health Care Auxiliary donated a total of $1,908,072.16
to support health care for the residents of Merritt and the Nicola Valley.
Organizations we support are our local Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre (Emergency Room and Lab), the Coquihalla Gillis House, the Nicola Valley Food Bank, and the Soup Kitchen. We have also donated to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops and Kelowna General Hospital as many residents of the Nicola Valley have to travel there for health care and treatments.
In September 2025, we donated $100,000 to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation to support the new Hybrid Operating Room. According to the foundation, this state-of-the-art space will transform surgical care in our region, reducing travel and ensuring patients receive advanced treatment closer to home.
In November 2024, we donated $182,752 to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation for the purchase of priority equipment, such as a Giraffe Incubator Care Station for maternal infant care, a pediatric crib and ventilator, and a Lucas Chest Compression System (a single-person use hands-free device).
Many residents in Merritt and the surrounding area must travel to Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital for medical care, so we donated
$100,000 to the Gaglardi Surgical Tower Project in December 2021.
We proudly supported the Nicola Valley Search and Rescue by purchasing a new automated external defibrillator. It's because of your support at the Thrift Shop that we were able to make this donation.
Nicola Valley Family Therapy advised us that there was not a mental health program available for men in our community. We are proud to support this organization with a $20,000 donation to assist them in getting their program up and running.
This past year has been a challenging one in Merritt, especially with the extreme flooding. At this time, the Auxiliary focused on the comfort and welfare of our community and donated $10,000 to Samaritan's Purse while they were providing support in the community.
The Merritt Rotary Club took on the mighty task of collecting and distributing funds to those affected by the floods. This was no small job and was done 100% by volunteers! We proudly supported this wonderful organization with a $10,000 donation.
When the city of Merritt flooded on November 15, 2021, and was evacuated, the Canadian Red Cross was there to help both physically and financially. We were proud to support these efforts with a donation of $10,000.
